Eligibility Criteria for Travel Grant
Applicants must: Apply before 15 June
- Must be an active member of the Society.
- Be a registered student or staff within a recognised academic or research institution.
- Present original research at a recognised conference, symposium, or workshop.
- Be listed as first or presenting author.
- Demonstrate that the travel aligns within their research or academic program.

Assessment Criteria
Applications should be evaluated using a weighted scoring system:
2.1 Scientific Merit (30%)
- Quality, originality, and relevance of the research
- Alignment with current disciplinary priorities
- Potential contribution to knowledge advancement
2.2 Conference Quality and Relevance (20%)
- Reputation and accreditation of the conference
- Relevance to the applicant’s research field
- Type of participation (oral > poster)
2.3 Applicant Track Record (15%)
- Academic performance or research outputs
- Previous presentations or publications
- Progress within degree (for students)
2.4 Motivation and Impact (20%)
- Clear justification for attending
- Expected academic, institutional, and societal benefits
- Knowledge transfer plans (e.g., report, seminar)
2.5 Financial Need and Budget Justification (15%)
- Availability of alternative funding
- Realistic and justified budget
- Cost-effectiveness of travel plan
Required Documentation
Applicants must submit the following:
- Completed application form
- Abstract of the research (accepted or submitted)
- Proof of acceptance (if available at time of application)
- Motivation letter (maximum 1–2 pages)
- Updated curriculum vitae (CV)
- Academic transcript (for students)
- Detailed budget (travel, accommodation, registration)
- Letter of support from supervisor – for students
Post-Award Requirements
Successful applicants must:
- Submit proof of attendance (certificate or registration confirmation)
- Present short feedback at the AGM at the Combined Congress if you are not able to attend the AGM then a short report 1-2 pages on outcomes and benefits, needs to be submitted
- Submit photos as proof that you also attended the conference, because we can also promote SASCP
Evaluation Process
- Applications are reviewed by a committee using a standardised scoring rubric
- Scores are averaged across reviewers
- Funding is awarded based on ranking and available budget
- Priority may be given to first-time applicants or those presenting orally
